Air Description |
The Shotgun is a very powerful, short-range gun similar to the Magnum or Knuckle Gun. Range and power both lie between the above mentioned guns, meaning it requires almost melee range to get a hit off, but it causes massive damage, and nearly all opposing robos are downed after a good hit with the Shotgun.
Use
Since this gun is extremely close range, you will need a fast robo to get in close enough to successfully get a shot off. Little Raiders work best for this task, but a quick air dash works as well. Use of pods like the Satellite or Spider to zone the opponent, as well as freezing him/her with a Freeze Bomb or Pod can make closing the gap between you an easier feat to accomplish.
Defense
Staying out of range shouldn't be too hard, as Shotgun has one of the very shortest ranges in the game, and that is the easiest way to deal with the Shotgun. That being said, mid-range combat is often more useful than lont-range, because the quick robos that will be using shotgun should be able to easily dodge long-range weaponry, not to mention many of those weapons (Sniper Rifle, Homing Star, etc.) take up many frames of animation after their shot, providing a perfect opportunity for your adversary to come in close and punish your misses. Likewise, weapons like the Claw Gun and Drill Gun which draw the oppnent close are less than ideal for coutering the Shotgun.

Trivia
- It is the only (known) gun to have a single-word name.
- It is one of the few guns that has appeared in all of the games. It shares this trait with the Basic Gun and the Rayfall Gun.
- However, many guns have "upgraded versions" in GX (i.e. Gatling Gun has Gatling Cannon, Sniper Gun has Sonic Rifle, etc.).
