Personality
Ernest is easily irritable and frequently ends up yelling at his subordinates. Ernest himself admits that his anger often gets the better of him, causing him to have no real handle on whatever he might say in the moment. This habit is noted to be the reason that he did not obtain a Class-S license until much later, as his uncontrollable temper would risk exposure of the Outside World to the general public. It is only after this secret is revealed to the entire world that it's considered safe for him to join the ranks of Class-S commanders.
Underneath his initial harsh exterior lies a kind hearted hearted individual. Despite bearing the brunt of his anger, Ernest freely expresses concern for the wellbeing of his subordinates numerous times. After Marcia's revelation during the Police Squad Tournament, he expresses relief that she's started on the path to opening herself up to trusting others. However the evident care for his subordinates does not prevent him from being adamant that every member of the team carries his own weight.
Secretly Ernest is a closet poet and frequently writes at Bogey's Cafe. Though Ernest himself would never openly share this traits about himself, and often attempts to dodge the matter whenever he is confronted. Of all of his associates Linda is the only one to successfully get him to acknowledge this aspect of his personality around others. This also reflects another aspect of his character as Ernest constantly adheres to Linda's requests whenever she comes to him.
